What does everyone think of the top 24 (now the top 20). I wasn't surprised by the eliminations except for Joanne(?) not sure of her name. I thought she was good enough to stay longer. I really didn't agree with the judges critiques of most people. My favorites so far are the young David and John the Austrialian guy. For the girls so far I like Aisha (again I may have the name wrong) she's the one whose dad died, I also like the girl that sings like Carly Simon (the one they always laugh at because she is so nice). One guy I do not like is Danny. He reminds me too much of Sanjay. Ugh! I hope we don't go through that again.

Yes I was pleasantly surprised by them too. No Cher impersonators yet. It seems like every year there is at least one that sings a Cher song and butchers it. I thought some of the singers sounded good but the judges said no. Oh well.

Janet, I liked all those people too, of course we have great taste! Lakisha is in Color Purple? How cool. She has a very powerful voice. I am not a country fan either but I just love, love Carrie's voice.
San Diego was pretty good. I was glad the single dad could sing. Plus the Irish girl who made it two years ago but her visa wasn't all set so she had to leave.
Diana DeGarmo is going to be on a show on CMT where they try to make pop/rock stars into country stars. The guy from Twisted Sister and Sisque plus Marcia Brady will be on too.

I always watch American Idol. I cannot believe some of those people that try out. do they really think they can sing? I wish I could sing but I knew early on that I was not given the gift of a golden voice. some of it is funny but sometimes I just feel sorry/embarrassed for the people. There were a few good ones in Texas. I still love Carrie Underwood the best. Who is everyone's favorite idol so far?

That is really nice to hear that. Neil is a good Brooklyn boy. Brooklyn had a lot of greats, Neil Sedaka, Barbara, Neil Diamond just to name a few.

I was so shocked. I thought like you Janet that she was the one with more sense.

I will be at my brother's house in Brooklyn. I am hoping to go to the parade this year. Typical New Yorker, never went to the parade my whole life. Anyway I am looking forward to getting together with everyone. My sister won't be there, she is having major heart surgery(2nd time in a year) this Friday. That's another reason I want to go to NY so I can go visit her.

I missed that show. I really wanted to see it. I had such a major crush on Donny when I was young. It is great to see them still doing well. I hope that Oprah episode is repeated.

Also, let's remember we only know part of the story. We all know how we defend Cher when the press gets after her because we know there is so much more to the story. I hope and pray she gets herself together for her children's sake, they are the concern now, not her career.

I never watched Dancing with the stars, but I do now because of Jane Seymour. I am a big time fan of hers.

Thanks for the invite but with school open it is too hard to go down just for a weekend. I had to go down a few weekends ago to say goodbye to my nephew (he was leaving for Iraq again!). I am saving my visits for my family, my sister is due to have major, major open heart surgery (again!) in the next month. I hope to go down during the April break week, maybe then we can get together.

I caught it on HBO On Demand. Justin is so cute and he is a great entertainer. I enjoyed most of it.

We all like to watch his show. That guy is crazy with the things he does. I often miss it because I forget which night he is on but when we watch usually we all watch together.

Maybe Simon heard how Cher does not like the show. I didn't think the guy sounded anything like Cher, he didn't sing well at all. If he really sounded like Cher he would have been put through.

Kelly looks great. Kelly and Chas were definitely good choices for team captains. Gunnar looks like he is looking for too much sympathy. I think everyone on Chas's team works hard, poor Countess has some issues with personal life, hope she gets through it. I think Chas's team will either vote out Countess or Bruce. I think Kelly's team will vote out Tempest or Bizarre.

Hey Janet, that whole week I have my friend's sons here from Florida. I really need to get to one of those NY get togethers, they sound like fun. One day Janet, I promise. Thanks for thinking of me.

Jan, I remember that very well. That was a cool concert. I didn't realize the audience had quieted down when I yelled "Cyndi you rock!". Wow can't believe that was like 2 or 3 years ago, boy time flies.

Yes, we may get rain instead of a wintery mix!! Never thought I would be thrilled about a rainy saturday. Many roofs are collapsing up here from the weight of the snow and ice. Schools too! Scary. Fortunately none have happened while people were inside.

Well we get yet another snow storm on Sat. about 8 more inches. We are well over 100" of snow for the season, not a record breaker yet. I am so tired of snow. Normally I love all four seasons but this year for the 1st time winter is making me a bit blue. I think we will have patches of snow until June! It must be about 3 or 4 feet deep in my yard. I left Florida because........?

I heard NY got quite a bit of snow. I remember a big storm (about 20 inches) and the bank I worked at would not close early. We were open until 8PM, finally at 6:00 they said we could close at 7:00. I lived 3 blocks from work and it took me about 45 minutes to walk home because the snow was so deep and no one had shoveled yet as it was still snowing!!
Up here we are getting another storm Tues. into Wed. 4-8 inches, I have no clue where we will put it. In my area they do not remove snow because it is so rural but we have so much there is no room left!

It gets better Janet, now we are freezing on top of all the snow. The wind chill makes it about -12*F this AM. We are getting more snow Tues. into Wed. I hope we do not have a snow day as my school is planning a field trip to see a play about Henry and Mudge, cute book series about a boy and his dog. Anyway I am home today since my daughter had the flu, burning 102*F all weekend. Take care of that leg and get better soon.

Yesterday, Thursday, we had yet another storm. We got about 6/7 inches, all the schools around me had a 2 hour delay or a closing, except for the one I work in. Two more storms coming in the next 5 days. We may break the record for snowfall in one year!!
Julie how's it going where you are. Do you live in Southern Maine like me? You don't have to mention the town.

Well Julie, they did finally call school, so I do have a snow day, thank goodness, I hate driving on slippery roads. So far we have 3 snow days, not too bad. Saturdays, wow, I don't think too many parents would go for that. Interesting though.

We are in the midst of yet another storm. We were suppose to just get a dusting to 1" then sleet, freezing rain, etc. Right now (6AM) we have about 4". School is a two hour delay which is awesome since it will count as a school day and we get to go in late.
Julie are you getting all snow where you are? Crazy weather in Maine. More storms this week.

Sorry I opened my big mouth. We were suppose to just have flurries this AM but I woke up to about 3 inches of snow and it is still coming down!! Might have a big storm on Friday. We will wait and see. For once I am rooting for spring too. I usually don't mind the winter but this year it is too much even for up here in Maine. Anybody else having a snowy winter?

Ouch Janet, that sounds pretty painful. I hope it will be better soon.
Looks like we are keeping the snow up here. It is snowing again today, suppose to change over to sleet, freezing rain, and then rain. My kids are off because of a teacher workshop but my school district has school and we are still open!! Maybe we will end in June.
Bitter cold this weekend, below 0*F temps. that's not counting the wind chill factor!!
