We got to know Paul Newman from when he was here in Maine filming HBO's "Empire Falls"...for us Mainahs it was quite a treat to watch him during the filming of numerous scenes. His wife was also in the movie, which was also extra neat, along with others such as Ed Harris, Dennis Farina and Helen Hunt (though she wasn't spotted as much and we heard from some of the filming crew, etc. that she was rude and hated Maine). He wasn't a big fan of giving out autographs or posing for pictures (which is totally understandable) but he was such a nice, funny guy. And he was so good at what he did....I remember one of the scenes they were filming by the bar and oh my--he looked so grungy and acted so drunk that he could have fooled someone that didn't know it was for a movie! Here's one of the few pics we managed to get of him while he was up here...
