It's the middle of the night in Europe, so the reviews probably will not hit the wires until a little later. The newspapers that might be reviewing will probably make sure the reviews go to press in their papers and then release them. Susan

Here is a fan review from the Paris show. It was posted on the Cherworld forum by "Matth" who said to feel free to post it on other boards. Thanks to Jan for pointing it out and thanks to Matth for writing and sharing Susan Here's my review of Cher's show last night in Paris : feel free to post it on another board as I do'nt know how to do it ! In many ways, this Paris show was unique and probably different than any other on this Farewell Tour (which by the way I had already caught in August 2002 at Staples center in LA, and then last week end in Wembley Arena in London). And I have to say right away that it was the best Cher show I have ever seen !!! She totally rocked the place ! But back to my story. It was different, because the venue was much smaller than the one she plays usually. Although Cher has a faithful following in France, it has never been one of her big markets and it was clear she could not play a 15 000 seat arena like she does elsewehere. Le Zénith is Paris second indoor arena : it can contain up to 5000 people, but yesterday night, it was the smaller configuration with about 3500 people. So imagine how "intimate" it was. The venue was also too small to welcome Cher's use stage and special effects, and so you could only see the upper half of the main screen at the center of the stage, the side screens were also hung much lower, as was the chandelier, simply because the ceiling of the venue did not allow it. But despite this, Cher and her band gave their all and offered us the very same show than at Wembley Arena. I must say they must have been pushed up by the audience welcome, because, even though they were only 3500 people there, the atmosphere was much wilder than at Wembley.
From the moment the chandelier came down to last notes of Believe, the crowd was so wild and appreciative than when she wanted to talk, Cher had to wait a few minutes for the applause to stop. She seemed especially relaxed and in top form, may be because the pressure was not so high in Paris, may be because the intimate aspect of this show made her feel special. I don't know, but she really gave her all, dancing, running across the stage during TBT (which she did not do in London) and seeming in a very upbeat mood all along the show. The setlist was the same as any other Euro show.
The major change came for the 1st monologue, after the one by one / taxi... medley. She did not put her talking jacket on and her monologue was totally different and a bit shorter than in the UK, but very very funny (as wise as this woman is, she clerverly adapted it to the country) and here's what she said :
"Thank you... Thank you... Bienvenue ! OK I would have loved to tell you this in French, but my French is terrible. So I Hope you understand... 1st I'd like to say that it's a great pleasure for me to be here tonight. I love France, I love Paris, I always enjoy being here and playing here, and it's always some kind of vacation to be here. An you know what, I've been to Père Lachaise this afternoon (Paris most famous cemetery !), because this is... my final destination !!! I'm not kidding !!! But the problem is, to be buried there, you either have to die here or to live here. So I'm gonna get me a little appartment first, and then we'll see !!! (laughs). Anyway, I hope you're gonna enjoy this show. Let me tell you, if you came to have a very tasteful and reserved show, you came the wrong place !!! It's not reserved, it's not tasteful, but it's fun, so enjoy... and I'll see you in a minut !" And then she was off the stage to prepare for the elephant number...
Then the show moved on with the audience still wild. After "After All", she paused to talk before "Walking in memphis", but the crowd was cheering, singing "Oh oh oh oh" (like we do here in football stadiums). She seemed surprised and then said with a laugh : "I don't know what this means but this sounds good !" And then followed with this : "You konw, this is the last time I'm doing it, so I'm glad you came. This is our 212th show tonight, and I guess there comes a time when you have to stop. It's like Agassi ! (who had been defeated the day before on the first round of Roland Garros tennis open !) Or Michael Jordan... Anyway, it's my time to stop. So enjoy this show... and meet you at Père Lachaise ! " And then she followed with Walking in memphis and the rest of the show and the crowd went wilder and wilder as we moved towards Believe. During TBT, only one sailor hat was thrown but she put it right away and she even slipped some words of the song cause she kind of laughed with her band and seemed to be 17 years old and really enjoy to be on stage. The show lasted 1h and 40 minutes, and let me tell you everybody went home happy, including Cher I guess, and itwas such an honor for me to see that the French people had enjoyed it so much and showed it to her.
