Here is an update from the Sunday Mail. Susan:)
CHER DELIGHT FOR WARD FIGHT DOC By Billy Sloan
A TOP doctor has praised pop superstar Cher for fighting to save a hospital ward from closure.
Consultant physician Dr David Reilly is battling to stop Glasgow Homeopathic in-patients unit being axed as part of proposed financial cuts of £58million.
Last night, he thanked the US singer for her donation of £13,500 to launch a fighting fund.
Dr Reilly said: 'This money is fantastic because it will help aid the professional advisers and volunteers who've been working so tirelessly to keep the unit open.
'But the biggest donation Cher has made is her very public declaration of support through The Sunday Mail.'
In 1987, homeopathic med-icine helped save Cher's life after she was struck down by a debilitating viral illness.
She pledged her support for the Homeopathic Unit based in the city's Gartnavel General after seeing a TV news report.
Dr. Reilly said 'It was a complete shock to discover Cher was behind our efforts to keep the unit open.
'I got phone calls from friends and colleagues after the story appeared in last week's Sunday Mail.
'We were inundated with letters of support from readers.'

That's one of the things I like about Cher....when she does something for a group or a particular person, she just does it without the Hollywood fanfare that a lot of other celebs seem to require. Most of the time I think the media finds out anyway, but she just does what she thinks is right, regardless.
