Jan, The person I have to check with is at a conference this week so I probably won't hear anything until that is over, but I will post as soon as I know! I know earlier plans were for the offers to be the same since this is a direct to retail release, But I will make sure that still stands and let you know as soon as I hear. BTW the editor of the Aussie paper that is offering the tickets and backstage prize never replied, but I think it was only a dead tree edition offer. I couldn't find anything linking it online. Sorry. Susan

Jan, I THINK this time the orders from SonnyandCher.com will be identical from what you would order at Amazon, but I will find out for sure if there are any advantages either way. I'm not sure what the status is on a VHS version, but I will check. Susan:)

Another board was experiencing this same thing (with only some of the members sometimes having a slowdown) Let me know if it stays good or starts going slow again. I'm thinking you might be right, Lisa. It might be a temporary server slow down. Susan

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the avatars. I will ask at the tech boards and see if it is effecting the server or just us. Susan

Sometimes a certain server will run slow if they have opened that particular server to new board creations. Let me know if this continues for you guys. If anyone else experiences a slowdown or access problem please post it here or email me! Thanks, Susan susanelizabeth28@yahoo.com

Cher and share alike A restless Cher is finally set to quit her touring, writes Kathy McCabe. 16oct04 CHER gave up making plans for her future decades ago. A rare showbiz survivor, the 58-year-old has been in and out of favour more times than Madonna and Britney Spears combined. And so, Cher prefers to take it as it comes, something evident with her Farewell tour series. It started as some 50 shows in the US in 2002. Cher and her team never envisaged it would wind up three years later in Australia. The tour's endurance has been a regular topic of discussion between Cher and her managers, who include Australian Roger Davies. "I'm always telling Roger that I just don't get it," she says. "I'm putting it down to some kind of strange outer-space phenomena which is making people come to the show five times. "The only other thing I can think of is that in my country right now, people really need some kind of stupid diversion, something that will give them a really good time so they can forget everything." Like most performers, Cher hates the business of touring and describes the process of moving from venue to venue as "hellish". "I have had friends come out on the road with me and after a week of moving from airport to airport, hotel to hotel, they couldn't keep up," she says. "Truthfully, that's why this is the last tour. At some point, there are certain things in your life you have to stop doing. "And I made a movie (Stuck On You) in the middle of the shows last year which almost killed me. "Everyone else would be heading to Florida to sit on a beach on a break from the tour and I would be off to the set. But that was a fun movie to make." As each new leg of the farewell jaunt was announced, Cher also shelved her own plans for a touring retirement present. Initially her "gold watch" was going to be a new car. "I have been buying car magazines checking out the car I wanted to get when I finished the tour," she says. "My brother-in-law, who is my security manager, has been helping me but after months of looking, I thought I'm not even sure I will care about having some special car when I am done. "You make all these weird plans and promises . . . getting bigger diamond earrings or a car. It's such crap – I'm not a rap singer so I don't need full-on earrings. "So what I am going to do now is go work on a cattle ranch in Montana. The horses won't care who I am and neither will the people there. Just me and the animals and being close to nature." Australian fans, who snapped up 50,000 tickets to the Farewell Tour in 24 hours, will be treated to the full Cher extravaganza, which includes at least eight costume changes, a giant mechanical elephant and other spectacular props. While band and dancer interludes give Cher the necessary downtime to wiggle into those skintight Bob Mackie get-ups and wigs, it takes some time before the changes become seamless for the star. "It takes between five and 10 shows before I become nonchalant about the costume changes," she says. "The first week, you are scrambling, scrambling to get it done. "I've put two or three new costumes into the show – they were getting boring for me – and we're still scrambling with one of them so we had to extend the music. "I could go out there in jeans and a T-shirt but I wouldn't. It would be boring for me and the crowd." While the changes have their own hysteria, her dramatic entrance via chandelier has also had its moments. Cher faced the prospect of crawling among the precarious lighting and staging rigs high in the venue's rafters when the chandelier froze in Cleveland, Ohio. "I was afraid for the first couple of shows when it came to coming down on the chandelier," she says. "We had a rig problem in Cleveland and it just didn't work, it wouldn't come down. "I was stuck up there for about three minutes and no one could see me because I was in the shadows, or hear me. "I now have a mic so the tech who works the machinery can hear me if anything goes wrong." Video packages help Cher cover her four-decade career during the concert, but she has no time for emotional retrospection and has never watched a video of the show. "I am too busy living my life to relive it," she says. "I like the doing of it, the show, and it's more fun for me to watch the looks on people's faces rather than to watch me." Cher plays Brisbane Entertainment Centre, March 11 and 12. Tickets are on sale now. See BAM, with The Courier-Mail (Oct 16) for your chance to win two front-row seats to Cher's March 12 concert, as well as passes to meet the star backstage. www.thecouriermail.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,11088382%255E7642,00.html

According to a press release those who used credit cards will have their cards credited. I guess that means all the people who purchased on ebay will have to go to the sellers and try to work something out. Susan

Sorry everyone, just found at the Lakeland Center's Website: Attention Cher Ticket Holders
Due to scheduling conflicts, the Cher: Farewell Tour performance, originally scheduled for September 25, 2004 at The Lakeland Center, will not be rescheduled. As a result, ticket purchases will be refunded. To receive a refund, return to your original point of purchase with your tickets. The effects of Hurricane Jeanne have been devastating to Lakeland and Central Florida. The Lakeland Center Management Team apologizes for any inconvenience this unavoidable cancellation may have caused.

I think the eight ticket limit should be reduced to four. That would help, although certain tickets will still get sold for pocket money instead of making their way to the fans. Pity. Susan

Yes Lisa, I'm betting it is Photobucket. They had a major failure about a week ago and a number of people lost their entire albums. Service has been a little sporadic since then. This is not good timing for them. They are launching their premium pay service this month and their sevice has not been reliable for the last week. I was able to upload some photos tonight, but earlier It was not working. Susan

Lisa, Others were complaining that photobucket was down for them last night. That is probably why you had problems. Susan
