Thought this was kinda funny since Cher has reportedly commented favorably about the bootleg shirts on several occasions.
Friday, January 21, 2005 Cher was for real, but cops say some T-shirts for sale weren't HEIDI ROWLEY
Questions about the authenticity of Cher's body parts didn't mar her farewell concert at the Tucson Convention Center on Wednesday night. But questions about some of the T-shirts for sale outside did - at least for the dozen people arrested.
Tucson police arrested 12 people from California, New York and Texas outside TCC, 260 S. Church Ave., on suspicion of selling unauthorized shirts.
The official vendor called police, and plainclothes officers bought several shirts for $10 to $15, then made the arrests, Sgt. Kerry Fuller said.
Official shirts commanded $35.
A total of 269 unauthorized T-shirts were seized along with $1,800 in cash and a van that investigators believe was used to transport the shirts.
The suspects face felony charges of fraudulent schemes and artifices and counterfeiting.
Fuller said vendors should get the message that unlicensed selling "won't be tolerated."

Hmmm, a total of $1,800 seized; kinda sounds like the cost of some of the up-front tickets available through a ticket broker!

Well, it seems to me that instead of a small illegal shirt bootlegging ring authorities could be looking into something a little more chronic...like collecting membership fees and giving next to nothing in return, misrepresenting when fans send things in thinking it will get to Cher...people selling things on ebay that a). Don't belong to them (relatively speaking) or, b). That were given to them to give as premiums and are sold on ebay instead. Besides, if it is something Cher knows about and has even joked about why spend the tax dollars. It isn't as if the bootleggers are doing it behind her back. Susan

Lol... some people really need to get real! I can't imagine calling the cops on some people selling bootleg t-shirts. I agree with Susan...tax dollars should be spent catching people that do much worse things than selling a few cheap bootleg tees. Too bad Cher couldn't hear about this news story....I tend to believe that she would be upset over the people being arrested. Many reputable media sources quote Cher as getting a kick out of the t-shirts and etc. I know bootlegging anything is wrong/illegal, but the point is that there is a lot of it going on and it's never going to be stopped...atleast I don't think in the near future it will.... if the cops or vendor wanted the people to stop selling the merchandise, then they could have atleast asked them to leave or gave them a warning before sending out undercover officers to buy from them and ultimately trap them.
Sometimes I wonder what this world is coming to!

Right on the "money" there!!!
Reading PA last year had great bootleg shirts and I missed them by just seconds.. Would love to find one of those, this was the 199th show not the recent one.. Love the cd's dvd's shirts!!!! Nothing wrong with it and especially if Cher jokes about it then what's the harm.. We still buy her licensed merchandise as well.. ;D

Susan....love it! So so so so so SO true... At the very first LP show I went to in Philly, Cher talked to someone in the front row about his homemade or bootleg shirt. And she specifically said something about how "I'm not supposed to say this, I know....but I really love the bootleg shirts!"
