Well, guys hate to start up such a depressing topic...but things unfortuntely did not go well with my nephews biopsy. He was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma (which according to websites is worse than hodgkins...cause it is so unpredicatable). I just don't get life sometimes...why? Why are these cancers happening to such young healthy people? First Pam, than my buddy kirks partner, and now my nephew...he is only 22 for god sake. I just don't get it. I even went to my kids dentist today and found out that the secretary that had been there for years had pasted away form brain cancer...diagnosed in August and gone in October. unreal! Poor Ryan is going to need lots of good vibes and prayers sent his way. Hopefully he is only in stage one,,,they found a lump in his groin and removed it the day before his brothers wedding. He will now have to ungo many tests to see if it has spread to other parts of his body. Please pray that it hasn't. If not than he has a long road of chemo ahead and possibly an 80% chance of beating it. Talked with my sister yesterday (she is in Wyoming) and she is doing ok, but my brother-n-law is taking it really bad. He is so close to Ryan and such a caring guy that I guess this did not surprise me. Well, now that I got myself bawling here..guess I will close by asking please send some prayers to my nephew Ryan and his family. d**n it is just soooo unfair! DEE

Sorry to hear this Dee. We will definitely keep the good thoughts and vibes going! Dee, whatever you do, encourage Ryan and his family to research this on their own too. He might be lucky enough to have wonderful doctors, but encourage him to ask questions. Sometimes I think people don't question enough. The doctor might be right on the money with things, but it's better to question and challenge (if needed). Just my opinionated two cents. Please keep us posted! Susan

Thanks everyone. And Susan you are so right, I will have to talk with my sister about checking on line for information. I just heard from my mom that they are meeting with the doctor today to see where they go next. I have one sister who works at the UOM hospital and she is going to talk with some of the doctors to get more info. Lisa so sorry to hear about your mom and dad, but please we don't want to hear about you crying either. Usually I am pretty strong but this was just hitting me so hard because of him being so young and healthy. Joanne, maybe I should wear my bracelet also for some good luck. And glad to hear about your mom recovering well. My dad also had colon cancer but they caught it all in time. Di, tell Sheri hi for me and hope she is doing better soon. You guys are the best amd I just love your support! Thanks\ DEE

Dee, so sorry to learn about your nephew, definitely have him and your whole family in my prayers. Susan's right - get all the info you can, even if the right doctor-patient relationship exists. Knowledge is power!
Lisa, girl, been thinking about your folks for some time now. You hang in there, you're a lot stronger than you think, and I know you'll be able to be there for your parents.
Joanne - that's great news about your mom's recovery. And always believe...
And Di, don't forget to keep me posted about Sheri - give her my best.
Deb

Thanks everyone, I am afraid this week they are really going to need your prayers and good vibes going out. He had the bone marrow test (which I guess was terribly painful), a petscan, and a cat scan last week and they will find out the results this Wednesday. Hopefully it is only spread to his groin area and the one lymph node and not into the other organs and def not the bone marrow. Please keep them in you prayers this week for me. My sister told me that he has lost 10 pounds in the last week, which is not good because he isn't a very big kid to begin with. He is not sleeping or eating...can't say I blame him...I am sure he is scared and worried to death. I told her and my bother-n-law that I have all my Cher buds on the Cher connection saying prayers and sending well wishes and they thought that was pretty awesome that total strangers would do this for each other. I just let them know that Cher buds are the best! Thanks guys Oh, yeah, and if you could I also have my Nick having his tonsils out this Friday..Thank God, it is about time on that one! DEE

Well, got some bad news and some good news yesterday. It seems that the cancer is in stage 3 which is not a good thing at all, but the doctor seems confident that they can beat this. They told my sister they think 80% chance. He will have to undergo Chemo for 18 weeks and than radiation so he will be pretty sick. They will give him something for the nausua but we all know he will be sick. He is in denver by himself and his parents are in Wyoming so they will have to move in with him for a bit. I just don't get it, he is just tooo young and healty for this. Also my Nick goes in tomorrow for his tonsils (yeah, about time!) so if you all could continue the prayers and well wishes for Ryan and Nick I would appreciate it. I told my brother in law that I have you all sending out prayers and "good vibes" and he couldn't believe that a "Cher group" would do this for a stranger. I told him what I have known for a long time that Cher people are the best! Thanks DEE

Sorry to hear the bad part of it, but glad the doctor feels confident in beating it. I think sometimes a doctor's "over reserved" outlook puts doubt in a patients mind, so I am so glad to hear he has a positive thinking doctor! He will definitely stay in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted! Good thoughts for Nick too! Do they still give all the ice cream you can eat? I never had mine out, but I remember ice cream galore in the "tonsil" episode of the Brady Bunch! Take Care! Susan
