To anyl of our Cher buddies in the Florida panhandle and points west - if you, friends, or family are in the path of this terrible storm, please know that we're thinking of you here and saying prayers that you and everyone else in that part of the country stay safe.

Absolutely Deb! I have been trying to think all day if there is anyone from that exact area that posts here. There isn't that I am aware of, but I don't know the exact location of everyone here. If anyone does know please post so we can keep a look out for their return. I hope everyone has practiced good judgement and moved inland or to at least higher ground! Susan

Well, my parents left for Long view Texas Monday and they made it to Kentucky that night, they just called and they are holding up in Kentucky because they have to travel through Tennesee and Shrevport LA...if they had to get a hotel they wouldn't find one. (my dad is a pretty slow driver so he takes 3 days usually to do the trip). We were kind of mad that they took off in the first place, they are driving right into it. We told them to drive more west or come back, my dad can be pretty "determined" (stubborn we call it). so please say some prayers that they get home safely. Would also like to extend prayers and well wishes for all that are affected by this storm. It is just amazing how many places it has affected. DEE

:'(My sis lives in LA close to New Orleans and had to evacuate. I watch CNN all day and pray-the disaster is just beyond comprehention-the waters are still coming into New Orleans and people still waiting on roofs to be picked up. I pray that our ::)president gets off his butt and sends money NOW-that state needs it yesterday for rescue efforts and i pray he sends in the guard for all of the looting going on and to help with the-last count i knew-30,000 people at the dome in LA. All phone lines are down-my sis called me on I-10 on Sun. 1pm as she sat and moved sometimes 5mph-then called me from a hotel where she met up with a friend somewhere around 2am Mon. She is still in LA but i think she is NW in LA. Have not talked to her since but she was able to send me a quick email from her cell phone although the phone is not working. She quickly told me to do big prayers, is OK may not have a home to go to and sends her love. Yes, i sit down and cry, for her and for all those going through this as this will be years before they will recover and will need billions of $-forget next yrs Mardi Gras and since I am also a Neil Diamond fan(just saw him in PA on Friday) i know that he was supposed to be in New Orleans in Oct.-NOT NOW My sis is on her own and bought this house 7-8 yrs ago and did alot of the work on it by herself. She truely has put her blood and sweat into this house and I pray she still has it. She may not have a job though as she worked in Metairie which is now getting the flooding from New Orleans. So i pray for that too. Since FEMA and Red Crosss is in there right now doing alot of work, i will be donating to them. I hope I am not off key here, but if anyone can afford to do so please send a donation(even$1) to anyone of the groups doing any help. I would also like to ask anyone to take a minute to say a prayer for those who have been affected by the hurricane. Forgive me for rambling, things have been hard for me with my brothers death just weeks ago and now worrying about my sis. May i say: GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY and GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU luv Trudy

Trudy, so sorry to hear about your sister, will def say many prayers for her and the many others in La and Mississppi. She really is one of the lucky ones that she left new orleans, I feel so bad for all those who choice to stay. Will send out some money to the red cross to help. I talked with my Aunt in Long view Texas (one hour west of shrevport La) and she said that their hotels are booked solid. The people are running out of money to stay at the motels so they are trying to relocate people into churches and resturants are donating food. I just wish the hotels would do as the governor asked and lower their prices or give some days for free to these people who need a place to stay. My parents called last night and they are in Arkanasa heading to little rock, so they are pretty much out of harms way. Should be back home today. (thank you god). They had great weather most of the way with only a little rain here and there. Next time they are going to fly...if we have to get them the ticket...they are just to old to be driving that far...and stressing us out! Trudy, keep us posted when you hear something. I know it is hard not knowing. I have a good friend at work whos whole family is in Biloxi Mississippi, and north of New orleans. He has not heard from any of them since the storm hit and they chose not to leave. Poor guy had just came back from visiting them recently and now he is going crazy trying to reach them. He watches the tv and saids they took me touring there, I was there...I pray for all.
God bless this country right now is right. DEE

Trudy, Dee - you bet I'll keep your families in my prayers! I'm so sad for all the people whose lives have literally been turned upside down and inside out with this storm, not to mention the anxiety all of their loved ones from across the country are going through trying to find out about their safety.
So much devastation - God bless each and every person working down there in the rescue/recovery efforts, the police and military who are trying to maintain law and order, and to every individual who has made their way down their to offer assistance.

Thanks everyone for all the prayers. Mom and dad did make it home, but they had to take an extra day in Kentucky because Tennesee was getting hit with the end of the storm. They did drive more west instead of going straignt down, and they didn't run into to much trouble. They found a hotel room the last night in Arkansa and said that the place had many LA cars in the parking lot. Said they talked to a lot of people who had left and they were so worried about how long before they could go back. Guess they were the lucky ones who got to leave. Have a few guys I work with that had family down there and they all are up here now. One young man just bought his own condo (him and his young son) and he said he has a lot of his family living with him now, place is packed with people. Will say some prayers for all of them. DEE
