Yeah my mom told me he died this morning when I got home from bringing my sister back to school today. It is really sad... I was too little to watch him on the Tonight Show but in the clips I've seen over the years he seemed like a really funny talented guy. I don't like Jay Leno but I bet they'll be doing something in his honor tomorrow night. Maybe even Dave Letterman will too cause he was such an admirer.

Odd I never cared for Jay Leno either..thought I was the only one..my friends and co workers here all tease me cos I am more a Letterman fan..they all love Leno..Only Leno show I loved though was when Will Smith and Cher were on..that was so great!

Yeah Jan, the first time I ever really saw an episode of Jay Leno was when Cher was on Talking about Walls and It's A Man's World. I thought he was so terrible at the segues! And I just don't think he's funny. He's always been kind to Cher though whenever she's on so I have to give him credit for that. And that episode with Will Smith and Cher was soooo funny! But still, give me Letterman anyday! Speaking of Dave, did anyone watch tonight? I wanted to see if he said anything about Carson but last night was a repeat and then I missed tonight's episode cause I got all into Murphy Brown on Nick at Nite... Did anyone see tonight's? Did he say anything?

I really felt bad when I heard. Definitely a classy guy! He had the best timing, and he was so good with such a variety of guests. I was glad to see so much respect from the media. It was good to see that his absence from the spotlight didn't lessen the tributes. Susan

Dave did do a Johnny tribute the other night.. He had on the producer of the Tonight Show and the band leader...sorry I can't remember either of the guys' names. It was a nice night and there were a lot of fond memories and stories remembered about Johnny. The producer talked about how he would get out the newspaper and write jokes from the news for his own retirement after he retired. One day the producer (who is also the executive producer of Worldwide Pants, I believe) suggested he give the jokes to Dave. So Johnny actually wrote a lot of jokes for Dave over the years without people really knowing. I always wondered if Johnny and Dave were closer than he and Leno and why he gave his show to Leno...
