LOL, James!! I just think it's so great that this board has only been up and running for a few days, and there's already two Janets and two Julies... I have a question for Julie from the UK: I read that Cher is in the current issue of "OK" magazine. I guess it includes a full-page of Cher pictures with an article about how she's bringing the tour to the UK in May. If you get a chance, could you please find out if this is inside the current issue (dated March 23, 2004), or if it was in last week's issue (dated March 16, 2004)? I have a feeling that it was in last week's issue (March 16), because the "OK" website has a link for the past six issues, and it says that there's a Cher article inside the March 16 issue. That issue may no longer be on sale in the UK, but it would probably still be available to buy at stores here in the US... Thanks in advance for any info you can "cher" with us.

Sure Dann, I'm sure we can find one somewhere! I did have one at one time, I'll have to see if it's still around (I did have it on a links page I had even though I don't actually use chat much myself). I wonder if it's possible to lose a chat room. I'll look for it.
I agree Lisa, we need to hit NYC sometime this year!

Julie, I was thinking you were a different Julie. LOL. But so very glad to meet you. Glad you are a part of the family!!! James Lol. James, that's ok! I, too, think it's kinda funny that there are two Julie's on here....I didn't think my name was very common... Although, I do have a good friend who's name is Julie, and we also have the same middle name (Marie). The only thing different is the last name. Hehe . Well, gtg.....so gald to see that more people seem to be finding their way here! I love this board, Susan....keep up the awesome job! P.S.-If it would help anyone to be less confused (or maybe this will make it more confusing ?), you can call me Harmony or Jules, or whatever you wish....I don't object to too much.

Hey Yvette & Dari!! Glad you made it. I recently read somewhere that " Dark Lady " was the #1 song in the U.S. thirty years ago this week... Anyone here remember that time in 1974? I remember it was a "bittersweet" time for me (ironically, for Easter that year, I got Cher's BITTERSWEET WHITE LIGHT album...) I just remember feeling so happy that Cher had another big hit and I heard " Dark Lady " on the radio all the time... but I also remember being really upset because I had recently been told that Sonny & Cher were getting divorced.... I think it was Feb. 1974 when Sonny filed, and I just remember being so sad about it, especially for little Chastity... I was only 7 at the time, so I was only about 3 years older than Chas, but I just remember thinking how sad she must be, and I felt I could relate as my parents had split up a few years prior when I was Chas' age... Of course, I was also sad because "The S&C Comedy Hour" was my favorite show and now it was probably going to be ending now... and it was weird and somewhat confusing for this 7-year-old kid because I knew S&C were getting divorced, but they were still on TV each week "business as usual" acting all lovey-dovey and whatnot... I just couldn't understand how they could be that way on TV but not in "real life", ya know? Now I get it, especially since we all later found out that S&C had actually split up in the Fall of '72, but at the time, I just remember being all confused and upset about the whole thing... Ah, but a year later, all was well again as Cher was back on TV every week with the "Cher" show!!

Hi Dari, Hail Hail the gangs all here......This is great....I remember thinking that when Sonny and Cher got divorced that I would finally have my chance with the Halfbreed Dark Lady. Give me a break, I was 16. LOL. All I had to do was move to Hollywood and meet her. Hey I should have, I was younger than she was. LOL. If I knew then what I know now.....Ok I will shut up now. James

How well I remember too, Dann! Nobody wanted Sonny & Cher to split-up and, oh, what that would mean to OUR lives more than theirs! You know? Such good seemed to be ending, and yet there was so much more good around the corner that we just didn`t know. I so loved them as a couple and as a team, and they sure made their mark in the hearts of many.
Speaking of The Cher Show, do you remember hearing how terrified Cher was to go out there all alone in her opening number that very first time? Back then to me, Cher seemed like she had it all together but I heard she said she couldn`t do it and Bette and Elton told her she could. Tears ran backstage, it was said, when she went out there and knocked them dead! She was always uncomfortable doing the monologues and having to talk but I loved it! I hope someday Paul Brownstein chooses to put all of those whole shows out on DVD. She rocked with the best of them!
Do you know to this day when I hear Gregg Allman`s Midnight Rider played on our classic rock station....in my mind I ALWAYS flash back and visualize Cher on her show, when Gregg was shown playing guitar as Cher danced to that song with several male dancers surrounding her? Yes, everytime! She wore a 2-piece black leather outfit and had her hair long and curly for that number. I loved it. I have several favorite moments from that series, like when she sang with LaBelle, Elton John, The Pointer Sisters, Tina Turner, Ray Charles and the list goes on.
And I used to love it when Cher`s huge circle logo of her name would swing down behind her as she started to rock out! I wonder what they ever did with that? What a collectible that would be! I hope someone had the sense to store that somewhere and kept it. She finally sang a medely of Gypsies, Half-Breed, and Dark Lady on the show using that....and that was sure a favorite moment for me. That purple top she wore for that number many fans have agreed she has to this day and used it for the Alive Again video over another shirt. I have a 70`s magazine pin-up on my wall of her in that show`s exact outfit in fact. It`s a favorite.
Ok Dann, see what you started here....going down memory lane! LOL. But it was a good time. It really was.
Pam

Dann, I can relate to a lot of what you said. "Dark Lady" was the 1st Cher album I bought...with my hard earned allowance. I was just a kid too! When I found out that S&C were getting divorced, I was sad for them. But, I knew I'd still be a Cher Fan all the way!

OMG Pam!!! That PURPLE top she wears in "Alive Again" video was worn on the Cher Show? Everytime I see that top, I think.... I think I've seen that somewhere before on her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, it clicks!! Okay, here we go off topic again, but let me go silly here.... I love the skit Cher did on the Cher Show when they'd show her coming home from a date!!!!! OMG!! She would crack me up!!! I remember her always being hungry and just raiding the frig when she got home. She was using plastic wrap and was trying to straighten it out. She said...."This stuff never works like it does on television!" LOL!!! Bring on the Cher Shows on DVD!!!

I think we may need a thread for The Cher Show all its own. LOL. Like you, I too loved the part of Cher`s show when she goes out on a date and then comes home and makes herself a sandwitch and puts her PJ`s on. I always got a kick out of her being in the kitchen and this one time Cher was trying to "cook" something and lift a small pan from one burner to the next. Well, she bumped the burner ut of place (must have been a gas stove) then snapped a finger nail inside the pot! I thought I was going to die laughing! Then she started fishing around in the pot trying to find it! Oh how funny that was. I can relate too. Anyone who knows me knows I have long nails....and though I can`t say I have ever had to ever fish in my food for one, I have had a kid help me locate one in a parking lot once. Cher`s name was painted down it no less and I was attending her concert. LOL. Remember in that dating segment the use of a dog she talked to named Tiger? Anyone know if back then if that was maybe her own dog? She burned something once in the kitchen in a segment and lifted it towards Tiger and he backed up way across the room away from her. He wasn`t coming near that. Those segments just cracked me up, especially when they would just let her just run with it and whatever happened happened. But I must admit, it did make me wonder back then if Cher ever stepped foot in a kitchen. LOL. She had always said when she met Sonny she couldn`t cook but she could clean. That`s ok Cher.....you cook on the stage and that is good enough! Pam

-makes an entrance- Hey all! It's Ash, Walking in Memphis from the Cher.com forum. I just heard about this forum so I'm all happy and registered and settled in now. ^^ I still bum around the other one, but it feels like none of my friends are there anymore. Cher news is great but friends are so much better. This place seems so much more peaceful and friendly. I'm loving it already. I think we're all going to have a lot of fun here.

Isn't it great to see everyone! Glad you are all finding your way here The threads can't be reversed, but it should be opening to the last page in a multi page thread. If you have a photo that is remotely hosted you can add it in your profile. Make sure it is a place that allows remote hosting. I am going to try to add some defult Cher icons to the choices in the coming week. Let me know if you need help. Susan:)
