Hello all! I just wanted to "cher" something with you to hopefully prevent this from happening to you! My dad is always telling me to backup the files on my computer. And I try to. But lately I've been doing this massive reorganization and had almost all my files (about 15,000 - school related, scripts, pictures I've taken, Cher pictures/articles etc etc etc) on my portable hard drive. Well, my dad needed to borrow the drive for something and when I plugged it back into my computer the folder with those 15,000 files was GONE. I literally had a near nervous breakdown, bawling for like two hours. LUCKILY, my dad came home and we finally fixed the problem and retreived the files. *phew!* So, needless to say I'm doing a major backing up tonight. So - just to warn you - BACK THINGS UP!

Thanks for posting! My dad is always telling me the same thing!! Ofcourse, I don't listen, and one of these days I will probably lose everything. We did have that problem once a couple of years ago...luckily I didn't lose anything too important, although my parents lost every e-mail address that they had in their outlook addy book....that has since then taught them to back those up! I have so many Cher-realted files on my computer, that some might find it to be ridiculous. haha...actually, my dad thinks it's crazy, and my mom just thinks it's funny and calls me obsessed. I do have an attache (portable hard drive, only a few inches longer than my pinky, and not much wider). It only holds 128M, and personally I am always afraid of something happening to it. So for now I have been trying to burn everything on to CDs. Better to be safe than sorry. Lisa, there's a lot of ways to back up all of your things... I'd try to suggest some ideas, but I'm probably not the best person to talk to about computers. Hopefully someone else on here could fill you in... BTW, Lisa...did you ever get my note? Just wondering...no need to reply back (especially since look how long it took me to reply to yours!..I don't blame you if you don't want to reply back..I deserve it.) Julie

Maybe I will try to burn things to cd, who knows.. I am no expert with this puter crap, works on my nerves plenty of times.. The only note I got from you Julie was in my pm at this site, if that's what you mean? I didn't receive an email.. Things have been really nutsty around here, I'm a bit miserable as of late..

Yeah, Lisa....the note I was talking about was thru here. It was no big deal...just me rambling on like usual! Just got home from a little over 2 hours of being at the hospital visiting my grandmother. Hopefully she will be released tomorrow....she and my grandfather wanted to leave for Florida (they have a winter place down there) this week, but looks like nature has taken it's own course...she has something wrong with her heart apparently, although they have been running all kinds of tests which come back with nothing showing, so they don't know what's happening. If not to make things worse, she found a lump on her breast a few weeks before all this happened, and she had to have surgery and they did a biopsy on it. They are still keeping an eye on that... most of her sisters have died of cancer, mostly starting from breast cancer and then spreading and etc. So, it's scary for sure. Anyway, there I go again with rambling.... I better go. I have tons of homework to get done...ugh. Julie P.S.-Lisa, I got your e-mail just now. Lol...too cute! Thanks.

Just now catching up finally...finally feeling well enough to sit on the computer for a bit today! Anyways though... Julie - I too have tons and tons of Cher files on my computer...well over 10,000 I think and that's not including mp3s. :-P I do video editing work, which as you probably know, takes up tons of space. So I have 4 hard drives with a total of about 235 GB...lots of backing up is necessary there! lol Problem is, video files are sometimes hard to back up cause of their size. Lisa - my best suggestion to you for backing files up would be what Julie said - either burn to cd or if you have a ton, dvd. I think cds would probably be adequate for what you wanted to back up though. Do you have a cd burner? It's a great investment if you don't - I recommend them.
