I'd mentioned Deadsy over in the general Cher Connection board and Di asked if I'd relate my stories so I thought I'd start a thread for the band over here.
I've listened to the band for about almost 5 years now, I guess, and I really like their music. About four years ago I had the chance to fly to California to see them play in L.A. with Dann and a mutual friend. We ended up getting there pretty early and were able to sort of meet the band and help their manager do some gathering info work. We took some great shots during the concert. Also, after the concert we were able to get some great pictures with a few of the band members.
When Deadsy went on tour with the Family Values tour a couple years ago, I got a ticket for their Philadelphia concert cause that's where I was living, going to school. I'd actually bought two tickets but none of my friends seemed to be able to pull themselves away from other things to go. So I went alone.
I was working on Deadsy's street team at the time. So I went to the concert to meet up with some members of the street team and to try to meet up with the band's manager to get some things to pass out to people arriving for the concert. I'd also painted my nails with the Deadsy symbols - each member of the band has a symbol and there are five members, so a symbol per nail.
After Deadsy played their set I was able to meet and talk to the band a little. They were all very impressed with my nails, especially Renn. Renn's the keyboardist and my favorite member besides Elijah. He had a camera and he spent forever trying to get good footage of my nails - made me feel very good.
Then Deadsy had another tour and were playing at a venue in Philly's China town. This time I was able to get my best friend to go with me and we got dressed up in our Deadsy garb and headed for the show. Again, I was supposed to meet up with members of the street team. Elijah came outside before the concert and did an interview for a local newstation and we all had to stand in the background and then say a few words about Deadsy on camera. Unfortunately I never was able to see that news piece. After the concert we were able to get some autographs and photos with the band.
It's funny because after they finished playing their set, the drummer, Alec, threw his drumsticks out into the audience and he seemed to throw them right at my best friend, Dave. Well, Dave gave them to someone else. When we met him, Alec said to Dave, "Man you're tall! Did you get those drumsticks? I threw them at your head!" lol Dave, by the way, is 6'6".
Right now it looks like there's work being done on the website but you used to be able to hear a sample of music that's going to be on their next album.
Their music is really good and they're really talented guys.
