Your welcome Di! Ooh..I don't like Britney either! Your daughter sounds smart for sure! Haha. I have other favorites besides Cher, but Cher is definitely # 1 no question about it!! ;D Hope to see you in Chicago, too! Hmm...so far all airflights I can find are over $380! But, I may just go for it anway. Why not. Thanks Meg!

The more I look into this trip possibility, the more upset my parents seem to get! Haha....I wonder if part of it is because their little girl is finally growing up and they don't want to let go of me? Well, on expedia.com I came up with a package deal that includes all taxes and fees for a roundtrip by plane and 8 nights at a hotel, for a total of (ahem, drum roll please!!): $842.79 Now I don't think that's a bad deal, since it includes the hotel...what do you all think? Think I could do better or should I think about doing this? I still need to look into how much by bus it would cost. If it's a lot cheaper, then I would probably end up going that way, because even though I don't think the above price is too-too bad I still have to figure in the price of the concert ticket and food/souveniers! I would really like to see Oprah while I'm there, but I checked her website and I have a feeling it'll be really hard to get tickets. But, I can try...since April ones can't be booked yet! So if I stay on top of things and get my request in before everyone else, I might have a chance of getting tickets. IF I end up being able to go to Chicago and can get tickets for Oprah, would anyone else be interested in going to see her? I just think it would be really fun! Julie P.S.- Lisa....post here or send me a note so we can discuss the motel thing we talked about before! If I went with the airflight/hotel pacakge, I still think we could get a room for 2 ?

Julie, that is not a bad price at all, but make sure the hotel they list is in an okay area. If you are flying you won't need the bus schedules, but I will look into them here in a bit for you two anyway. I just got home a few minutes ago. Susan:)

Thanks Susan! It says the hotel is called Elk Grove Chalet.
OMG!!!! This is off topic, but on 20/20, they are showing a bar somewhere in the UN, and they are playing I've Got You Babe with a Mexican beat/sound to it. It sounded like Sonny's voice, but I couldn't tell for sure.
Anway, back on topic...I don't know anything about the hotel and will have to check into that.
If you can get any info on the buses, that would be great!

I sure would love to see Oprah!!! Those prices wouldn't be bad at all.. No, don't think I would take the plane route.. Thanks Susan, you should come too.. We could split it into 3 for the room then, would be fun.. I'm still thinking about CA too, it's gonna have to be either or.. This is how things may go for me: 1st choice is NJ, which I have been looking for a ticket every night.. 2nd would be IL and 3rd would be CA, which I have also been looking for tickets every night and trying to come up with something.. Being sick has me miserable right now but I will get over it and think straight once again.. I have alot to consider about going to CA, not on my part, I know how I am but have to talk to 2 people and get a dog taken care of..

Thanks Susan! Wow...those prices are not bad at all! Not that flying would be bad, but since I have to be somewhat careful with my money, the bus route wouldn't be too bad. I could put up with that many hours on a bus! Did the links work for you Lisa? Couldn't get anything to come up for me, so went to greyhound.com and ran a search to come up with what Susan found. I also ran a search for if I left from Waterville which is only like 10 minutes from me and for 7-day advance ticket it would be $158, versus Portland's $138. So, even though Portland is cheaper, it's about 2 hours from me and I guess by the time you factor in gas and milegae, it would be just as sensible for me to spend the extra ? Hmm...I am getting so excited!!! I really think I may be able to do this guys! Now it's just trying to find tickets for the concert as well as a hotel. How many days are you thinking of staying? If I left Friday, April 15 in the afternoon and arrived in Chicago Saturday, I could leave Friday, Apr. 22 or Saturday. I like your plan Lisa of wanting to go to NJ..I thought of going there, but can't miss school, so Chicago looks to be the only one I can get to without missing any days since it's during my vacation. Susan, Lisa is right...you should come too!!

The links are just sitting and spinning for me now. I tried to look up prices for me after I looked for you two and I got a "server too busy" message. Chicago is a possibility for me. I would love to get to HW, but that far alone on a bus is too far. Susan

Thanks Di, Jan, and Joanne! Well, as it is looking now I may not go. I know, I know...after all my harping about how I'd thought I would just do it and now all of a sudden for whatever reason I feel like reality has hit and I'm realizing the fact that I don't know if I want to travel alone. I, am however, trying to talk my friend Amber and her boyfriend into going with me. Come to find out, they have been talking about going to Chicago but were planning on next Thanksgiving. Even though they aren't Cher fans, I think they'd be excited to see her and maybe I could turn them into fans! Haha. Or, even if they didn't want to go to the show, they could still come along and I'm sure they'd find plenty to do while I was at the show. So, maybe I can talk them into going in April instead of next november. So, here's the thing... I will talk to them and see if I can work any magic. If not, I guess it's just not meant to be... BUT, remember that Cher contest that Oprah was having? I wonder if they will be doing anything with that later on? I was thinking that maybe if I can't make it to April's concert, maybe Cher would be returning to Chicago sometime after that to be on Oprah....and I could go to that! Hmm....I know I should JUST DO IT like Cher says, but I don't know guys. Amber & her boyfriend want to take a trip to NY and want me to go with them...they were thinking April vacation. They want to see Letterman. That would be fun, but that is a trip we could take anytime! Why is it that something/someone always seems to hold me back from making the right decision? I know the clear choice for me to make is to go to Chicago to see Cher, but no one around here (I don't mean you guys...I mean my friends & family) is being at all supportive of me going alone to the windy city, yet none of them will volunteer to go with me. Guess we will have to see guys... for now I am not going to say I can't go, but I am also not going to say I am definitely going. It's one of those things that'll have to wait for a bit...and we will see what the concert ticket situation ends up being! Julie

Go to NY with your friends in April, see Letterman.....and come to the Meadowlands concert on the 13th! The arena is only about a 15 minute shuttle bus ride from Port Authority in the city! ;D
But whatever you decide, I hope you get to see one more show!

I didn't know there was a show in NY for the 13th of April. Sounds interesting. But, my vacation doesn't start until the 16th. Ugh...can you believe my awful luck. It's times like these that I wish I didn't have perfect attendance at school and could just play hooky for a few days! Actually, I would miss school to see Cher, but I know my friends wouldn't. Although I will be mentioning the idea to them anyways! What are left for show dates? Thanks Debbie...it would so rock if I could get to one more show.

The Meadowlands is a make up date and at this point is probably my most likely show to get to. So far no luck in finding decent tickets at a decent price, but I am working on it. Susan:)

I realized shortly after I posted that Meadowlands is the make-up show in NJ. Haha...silly me for not realizing that before. I haven't seen any decent tickets at a decent price, so I don't think my playing hooky would be of much use. Hmm....do you suppose there will be another date squeezed in somewhere after that? I am hoping she might come back to Portland since it wouldn't be very far out of her way...or even anywhere in the New England area would be ok with me if it was during my vacation!

Well, there has been no offical talk at all of her adding anything else, but I think it would be odd for the only "final goodbye" to the East Coast to be two make up dates that have been sold out for months. Maybe it is just all the wishful thinking we have been doing but it seems strange not to add SOMETHING else. Susan:)

Oh wow....talk about cheap!! That makes it worth spending out a little extra for a flight and hotel! Dang...I could really swing this, but friends have convinced me to go to NY instead ....and since my parents are already having heart attacks about me going to NY, I know Chicago would not fly with them at all! Ha. Ohwell...I've seen her twice, so I should count myself lucky. All of that do get to go, please give Cher an extra wink and smile for me and let me know how it went.
